Last month, 925 properties were sold using LSTAR’s MLS Listing system, making it the second highest August for home sales since LSTAR began recording data in 1978. However, sales were slower in August 2020 than in August 2019, with a typical number of days on the market of 9, compared to only 8 days last year.
Last month, LSTAR received 1,020 new listings, down 1.4 percent from August 2020. The total number of months of inventory continued to fall, hitting a new low of 0.6 at the end of August.
With 682 sales in August, single-family homes remain the most popular property type among area purchasers.
